On what looks like the latest in Iranian Revolutions
"We should go under the rain.
We should wash our eyes,
And we should see the world in a different way."
Sohrab Sepehri
Wallahi, the people have spoken. I never thought that Ahmedinejad would win a second term; I was right (yay for me). This is why there's different societies. Nothing even remotely like this would happen in Britain. When Gordon took over, I mean. We're all worried about our jobs - they come first. Machine, machine: no matter what state the machine is in, even if it's producing weapons, even if all it's producing is soot and smog - the machine must be kept running. Because now it's become the end in itself, and not a pathway to further evolution.
And then there's Iran. Well, the populace that has stood up and asked "Where's my vote?" At least they have the BALLS to ask that question. I don't. Shodja Ziaian complained that there's a difference in the stages of development of societies and I agree to that, it's plainly obvious. But development is of all types.
The emptiness that I felt in Toronto and Montréal and Qom and compare to the vibrations I at least felt in Mashad and in Havana. C'est tout perpective.
I'm really happy they're doing this, they are an eruption, an irritation that had to burst forth after years and years of shrouded silence. I only know this thanks to Marjane Satrapi and her graphic novel Persepolis. I don't agree with everything she stood for, but the principles always do remain the constants.
You just cannot FORCE ANYTHING onto the conscience because it WILL ALWAYS rebel in the end; even the thing which is truth - because and only because you've forced it upon them.
You see, this is why democracy can't work long term if you've already declared Al-Mahdi as the Divinely Appointed leader and the Ayatullahs as just that - Signs of God. Maybe I haven't stated my points and so you, the reader, don't know where I got to this conclusion, but I did. In my head.
At that time, as I've said before, I had no problem with hijab, I liked doing it - but those three weeks in Iran I wanted to peel off every last layer of black cloth JUST to make a stand against those bearded men. And the Revolutionary guards and the women and the mentors who would pick, pick, pick on every last hair strand and...
I'm going to love listening to the explanations the Islamophiles have for this one :) "Black and white - infidels - saazish - signs of the end of time - divine authority" - what was it, one of the prophecies was blood till your knees but in Qom only till your ankles - I mean, honestly, who comes up with this stuff?
And I am trying my level best to not become a cynic to the real truths but when you just arbitrarily prop statements like that up in emblazoned gold and hold it to be the truth like the Holy books are - well, something has to give. Either I doubt your credibility or I doubt the credibility of the message.
Sheikh Arif is just so damned RIGHT. See, you go back to that but realise that he's actually just a facet of God - he is mirroring one aspect of the true face of God and recognise and be grateful for that, at least, Sukaina.
If it's meant to be, it will. Obviously not now. Right now I'm in a pool of my own empty-ness. And still leading this life of quiet desperation, in spite of all that I know and feel. What a cop out.

Although I, of course, am probably wrong about all of this. I have a very close minded worldview and can't see much. But I wanted them to speak out. All oppression will eventually be spoken out against. Even if you're just playing into another oppressor's bait game. Agh, what do I know?
