I know for sure that I am not part of this world and shall never be more than an honorary member, till I go back to my home planet. But I've got to realise that everyone else whom I know is from this world, and they therefore do things according to the various lifestyles and convictions and earthly laws that they comprehend. Valuing them according to my own inner moral compass or Weltanshauung is completely out of order.
How long have I known them for? Three weeks, 8 months, a year, even 10 - does it matter how long I've known them for? They are the same strangers today as they were when I first met them - their lives have gone on their own winding paths, while I've lived inside of my brain all of the time. So how can I claim to be wise or a sage and just 'know' things about them which is just not true? Trying out the suit of an Artisan, trying to be centre of attention or something, I suppose.
If you disapprove, okay. Do something about it - stop being their friend or just ignore the uneasiness you feel to enjoy a few precious moments with them. Avoid being manipulated. But, most importantly, avoid manipulating. You're really not in a position to do amr-bil-ma'roof anyway. You're losing quite a few friends, though. Maybe they were really just acquaintances to begin with. The Umair thing was a wash-out for sure, you knew that even as you began. Yet you did it, willing to accept the hurt and pain or confusion that would inevitably occur thanks to you being totally unable to control the feeling you felt at the time. Such credulity.
I had that dream again where I was supposedly at university and taking four courses and hadn't bothered to attend two of them and had done no assignments and on the brink of flunking out. And when I wanted to get to school, my backpack was so unbelievably heavy, I couldn't carry it on my shoulders. That's the second time I've dreamt that.
Something my mum said really meant a lot: when I told her that I had that weird feeling thing for Umair, and commented on how both her and my dad picked up on the fact I had a male 'friend' and went on and on about it, she said, "Well, we just don't want to see you getting hurt." It made sense and also sort of widened up my thinking about parental love.
Aliyyah: Are you in Karachi? Don't worry, everyone goes through a bad patch at one time or another. Don't beat yourself up about it, some things are beyond our control and other things will happen in their own time when we're least expecting it. Allah is the Best of Planners! He knows when it's time for something and when it's not. It's REALLY hard to handle sometimes ;( But we just have to do the best we can on our part. As for the rest, we can only make dua that the outcome which is best for us happens (which may not be the same outcome we desire, in which case make additional dua that we can handle it!). Hope I'm making sense, lol!
It sounds like gospel because it comes from her. Don't ask me why.
