"Don't be afraid of going slowly; be afraid of standing still." Anonymous
Of course I don't want to jinx anything. But confessing what is true can't do that. It's a good thing; it means progress. In fact, it's more than good, it's fantastic - see, I am even risking enthusiasm.
I haven't felt 'downhearted' for three whole days. I mean, sure, my activity levels are still pretty low, and I cried my eyes yesterday because of that really stupid git of a shrink - okay, and PMT was another culprit.
However, yesterday, when I was telling him my 'symptoms', there didn't seem to be so many - not as many as there used to be. Well, his bedside manner was pretty crap, but not as bad as the lady shrink I went to three weeks ago.
I actually wanted to go to the mosque yesterday for the milad, and convinced Mum to go with me and I had fun. It was the best milad I have ever been to - why? First of all, since it was both ladies and gents, there really weren't too many women there. Secondly, it was televised on one of the Islamic channels here, so they actually had a great line up. There was this tiny kid of around five and he recited the naat in the most adorable manner; I can't blame the guy who gave him a gift at the end for picking him up in his arms and giving him a huge smacker on his cheek - he sure deserved it. Thirdly, I didn't have to meet too many of our rellies or other Khoja aunties.
I am wearing an orange-peach coloured shalwar kameez today - unbelievable, since I detest orange with a passion and never buy clothes of that colour. But I did this time, even though it's more of a deep peach, and has lots of white in it. Why is this significant? Colours that you end up choosing or liking have subconscious meanings. So, what's the 404 on orange?
INTRODUCING ORANGE
Orange, a close relative of red, sparks more controversy than any other hue. There is usually strong positive or negative association to orange and true orange generally elicits a stronger "love it" or "hate it" response than other colors. Fun and flamboyant orange radiates warmth and energy. Interestingly, some tones of orange, such as terra cotta, peach, and rust have very broad appeal.

Intéressant, n'est-ce pas?
I am choosing bright, bold colours for my mandalas these days. I'm enjoying the warm weather, and the feeling of a soft, furry and warm little kitten on my heart as I lie on the wiry green grass and look up at the azure blue sky the day time, or at the stars at night.
I am feeling once again, something I lost since September 2006 in Toronto. It could have been the SAD, it could have been the stress, it could have been the depression. But I have been feeling so removed from everything, in a vacuum, whereby I watch but can't really see. I couldn't touch anything. As though all my sense of touch had completey numbed. I feel it slowly drifting away. Very slowly. Well, at least today it feels less than since a long time.
I managed to fill out the form for yoga classes and just need to attach a picture and pay up and that's that. I am quite proud of this; it is a major achievement, à mon avis.

You know it's funny, but I've been trying to convince my mom to make me a shalwar kameez in royal blue and sunshine yellow. Your post reminded me of it.
