Okay, so even though my mum has clarified twice that this statement was made five years ago and it was just a random suggestion to Zuli, it still pisses me off. Are you planning on getting married to a girl or her father? Basically, apparently his grandma suggested 5 years ago that he think about getting married to me and he said, "Ibrahim Uncle is a very difficult person and if I got married to Sukaina, he would make my life hell..."
Okay, mate. Whatever. You're the one who has a psycho ex-girlfriend still stalking you. Anyway, I don't think his family knew about the girlfriend situation at the time, which is why he said something as retarded as that.
But it's made me wonder if my inheritance from my parents is their ignominy or notoriety. Fucking hell, if that's the case then it's a full circle - that not only do I not want to get married to a Khoja person, but that no Khoja guy would want to get married to me. Everyone in London (at least at Hyderi Islamic Centre) knows my father and everyone in Karachi, Toronto and London knows about my mother and her two failed marriages.
Cripes. I guess my looking for a Caucasian dude makes a heck of a lot more sense now.
And what's worse, or weird rather, is the fact that I was actually beginning to get attracted to Zuli all over again. I mean, I always had a crush on him (and every single male cousin I had) when I was growing up.
But I thought he was giving me messages or something or maybe I'm ovulating too much and taking everything as sexual innuendo. On Monday, he said "To what do we owe this pleasure?", whereas his sister asked me bluntly "Why are you here?" It was so crass, it was hilarious. I said, "What, do I need an invitation to come see my family?"
Anyway, then when I visited on Friday (to drop off my books for Abbas to read), he said:
"Looks like you're using our house as a travelling masjid".
So I said, "Well, isn't that a good thing?"
And he said, "No, no. I feel honoured!"
And then he offered me a chocolate digestive, the 2nd last of the packet and when I hadn't eaten it, he commented "You haven't even eaten the biscuit".
I am pretty sure this was completely undue attention, unnecessary and not needed. Was it his way of flirting? Or is he just this friendly to everyone? Who the hell knows? All I know is that it's good I haven't been speaking to him very often and just got to see him just before I left. Because he has the most liquidy chocolate brown eyes and a nice smile and great teeth for someone who smokes a lot.
Anyway, I guess it's okay for me to obsess about him now that he's far, far away. But it's not like I want to marry him. He quit university and he smokes. I won't be able to talk Plato with him ;) And he likes expensive cars. Doh!
Am I EVER gonna find a guy? Okay, okay - stop obsessing.
I found the hunter beef place today. I am so going to buy a burger, eat it and then tell Mairy. Ha ha, make him green with envy.
I can't get over the Indian ad for the new Nokia music phone - it's just so damn cool and I was hoping to get the sleeveless hoodie that one of the models was wearing.
I know for a fact that it isn't the chemicals in my brain that have changed ma point de vue de la vie ici. Je sais pas c'est quoi exactement, mais je m'amuse ici. Ca fait seulement deux jours ici mais je pense que ça va être OK ici. Je sais pas. Je mis ma foi en Dieu. It's up to Him now.
I ate aaloo samosa today and was in an erotic pleasure as I enveloped my tongue on the crispy crust. Orgasmic....my mum was shocked at the groans I emitted. Well, at least she knows now! ;)
I also ate candyfloss and yum yum yum. Innocent gastronomical pleasures, but when that all finishes, then what?
I can't go back to London. Not until my eighteen month exile sentence is up. They had this bit on the telly about The Citizen's Foundation and it looked like a lovely NGO to get into. Teaching kids whose parents are domestic workers or taxi drivers or on the streets. Blimming amazing and runs solely on donations.
But guess what? I've left all my damned certificates, my degree and my English teaching books in London. Smart arse. I think it was just coz I don't want to do anything except get married. Har har. Oh well, I suppose my dad can always courier them to me when I need them.
Bloody hell. Guess what my mum just said: "I don't know why you wanna cry with a stupid punk like me..." And then she tells me to stop swearing!
I am going have a lot more fun teasing her... XD
